CHRR BACK MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT AS MANY PEOPLE DID NOT KNOW THEIR ROLES IN DEVELOPMENT.

By  Luciano Milala

It has been observed that some developments in Mchinji district are not being implemented due to poor coordination between community members and their members of parliament.
The observation was made during an interface meeting on Wednesday which was organised by Centre for human rights and rehabilitation with assistance from Tilitonse fund, at Rewards Lodge in Mchinji District.
According to some developmental spectators in the district some MPs prefer to stay away from their constituencies which they said is one of the factors that affect development in most parts of the district.
They further said people are looking for more developments that need to be implemented in various areas by their responsible MPs but they do not show interest in developing their communities.
Among members of parliament who attended the interface meeting parliamentarian for Mchinji South west Honorable Francis Musa who said many people fail to differentiate between Member of Parliament and ward councilor which brings a lot of confusion.
“We have been asked to do some work which is more designated to ward councilor” Honorable Mussa says.
But in responding to the complaints the program manager for CHRR Mr. Timothy Mtambo said most of the people in the country start pointing fingers at their members of parliament forgetting their role as citizen’s   in as far as developmental activities are concerned in the country.
“It is surprising that people start accusing their member of parliament for not availing themselves to the constituents while they do not invite them.” Mtambo says.
But Mtambo further says CHRR will continue bringing together people in different constituencies closer to their members of parliament.
Centre for human rights and rehabilitation is implementing the project in four traditional authorities namely Mavwere , Zulu, Mlonyeni and sub traditional authority Nyoka in Mchinji.www.mudziwathuradio.com
