GENDER EQUALITY AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT (GEWE) PROJECT SAYS IT IS MUCH COMMITED TO EMPOWER WOMEN IN MCHINJI DISTRICT.

As the issue of women empowerment and gender equality is still becoming increasingly tough to understand by people in the country; the project called Gender Equality and Women Empowerment GEWE, through Mchinji district social welfare office says it is trying to implement measures to change the mind set of people in Mchinji on the issues of women empowerment and gender equality. Speaking at the meeting organized by the GEWE Project through Mchinji district social welfare office, the district social welfare officer Mr. Rodwell Chunga said the project has organized a committee that will be responsible for sensitizing communities about gender and women empowerment across the district. Among other issues Mr. Chunga said the project will be focused much on gender based violence by making sure that such cases are brought out and followed accordingly.
